Construction-Second Day Of Filming

The second day of filming was fairly successful, i didn't get as much as i had hoped but i managed to complete the entire indoor scene. This is the scene involving our leading lady in her bedroom getting ready to leave, however is realising what her life has become. We started by recking her bedroom, and making it very untidy, to show the destruction and chaos of her life and how nothing is in order or how it should be, this girl knows nothing but destruction at this point in her life, after her body is used up and under the influence of many substances that are designed to destroy the body.

The footage we got mainly involved her looking in the mirror. We got various shots of Aisleen applying makeup in the mirror, this was a straight close up shot, witch i used to try and make the entire experience uncomfortable, she is looking at herself and what she has become and she is disgusted at what she has seen, and the audience is close enough to see the tears running down her face, making a strong impact. But on top of that you also have the metaphor of the mirror. How her reflection is always within shot as if her darker half or better half is alway looking down on her, as if controlling her or rejecting her.

We got a number of shot around her bed room, but like i said we didn't get as much filmed as i would have liked, all the footage was within her bedroom and we lacked any verity in setting, but i tried to make the most of the setting we had. Most effective was a low angle shot of her on the bed, to show her helplessness and hopelessness in spiral out of control, but also to create a feel of sympathy and pity. i feel that the footage that we managed to obtain will all be used within the music video. Overall i feel that the day's work was very successful but hopefully the next filming day will have a better result.

Construction-Radio Spot Process (GarageBand)

Our artist needed to promote his new single on the radio so to do this we had to create a radio spot. This was a difficult and timely process but when we put time and effort in we managed to create a believable radio spot. To begin we opened garage band and selected voice to start laying down some vocals.
first off we need an introduction from our radio station, for our radio show, however we wanted our introduction to have a few funky audio effects that are very common amoung radio stations. firstly we add an echo effect introducing the radio station, however we then changed the frequency of the second part of the intro to make it sound high pitch.
We then introduced the radio show "Helix Radio", And we took a great sense of pride in the name of the show so we wanted to make the show sound as cool as possible and to do this we wanted to contrast the high pitch intro, from the earlier stage, and changed this frequency to make it sound very low pitched and deep.
Next we created the third and final introduction to our radio show. for this we simply searched on the effects list for a collage of funky electronic sound effects that is common amoung popular radio stations, and this would then lead straight in to our show.

The final parts of our creation was the introduction the DJ gives for the song. since this was just an intro from the DJ we felt it didn't need any audio effects to add. However, it still didn't sound convincing as a radio station therefore we decided to add background DJ music. To do this we had to insert the music in the layer below the DJs voice but overlapping and so, because it was only background music we had to lower the music's volume so the DJs voice can be heard.

Construction-Album Cover Process (Photoshop)

Our idea for the album cover was fairly simple, we thought we would recreate the classic image of a neon sign on a brick wall, in order to recreate Ed Sheeran's image, of a very rough careless indie rockstar. After inserting a simple picture of a brick-wall We moved onto the neon writing, we added the block text however the text was hollow, therefore we had to add  the colouring seperatly using the paintbrush tool, added colouring to each section of the lettering following the colour patton of the spectrum provided. And later added a glow effect to fix the shape of the lettering.

We then inserted a photo of our front man, Taylor that we had taken early that day. We then, using the 'lasso tool', cut out the background of the photo. We added effects to the photo in order to make it more abstract and animated. We black and white and a charcoal effect. We did this to make it seem that the image of him was draw on the brick-wall in a graffiti style, to add to his image as a care free, rugged, rebellious rockstar.
We then imported the image that we created onto  what we all ready had. It was at this point we slowed down and structured the poisoning and style of all the aspects of the album cover as this was going to be the main contact point between our target audience and our music video, therefore we had to make it as attractive as possible to our target audience .

We then needed to create the text for the title of the album. A great deal of psychology went into designing what we had, the way every aspect has a different patton and style. It creates a very rebellious imagery, the way the text is written in a graffiti style or how the picture of Taylor is only slightly off the middle, or how the "A Team" text is not straight or uniform. It's as if this album cover doesn't follow any particular rules. This can make the entire image relate to our target audience that are modern day teenagers who naturally rebel against the generation before them.

This is the second one that we designed,
this was the design for our back cover

Construction-First Day of Editing Podcast

Construction-First Day of Editing

Our first day of editing was very successful. Today i edited together the two different lip syncing sequences, along with park and lake sequences. The first lip syncing was a low angle shot of a leading man sitting with his guitar singing the song. While filming we anticipated trouble when it came to keeping the footage in sync with a separate piece of audio, therefore we played the piece of audio while filming so we could keep the singing in time with the music, another advantage was that while we were filming Taylor (our leading man) sung along with the audio, and thanks to this we were able to make the lip syncing look extremely realistic. As well as editing the footage perfectly time after using cut off points while filming with the audio. And we simply repeated this action for the second lip syncing sequence.

Next we filmed out side where we were faced with an problem straight away with the weather. Not only was it blisteringly cold but we had to battle extremely strong winds, which was only amplified when editing, because the original footage audio was just wind. we were able to use a great panning shot of him walking next to the lake that we used along with another great lake shot of taylor on the bridge panning down to the water that we were able cross dissolve with a shot him lip syncing.

Lastly i used some great shot of taylor on the swings in the park playground. i was able to edit together three bits of film of the same thing but at different distances as if it was zooming in one frame at a time. i was also able to create a great effect, i managed to make Taylor disappear. i had a shot of him on the the swings, then without moving the camera taylor went out of shot and by dissolving the two bit of footage together it gave the effect of him disappearing.

We ran into one problem when editing the footage: When we changed the color of the swing scene to black and white the footage becomes very pixalated. We realised that this is due to the frame rate within Adobe Premiere and that when we export the footage it will be fixed.
