Evaluation-How does your project challenge real media texts?

From last year to now we have noticed a significant difference in the construction of the projects and how our final product has been diferent. In our project last year we were told that media texts had to follow a certain set of rules such as following a strong narrative, certain ideas about character representation etc.

While our music video fits into the ideal of a music video, it is different to other music videos as we have attempted to paint an overall picture of what the artist is singing about. To do this we have used a fragmented narrative. By doing this it allows us to give the audience snippets of information and allows them to "imagine" their own version of the full story. This allows the audience to relate much more closely to the individuals in our music video which was our main idea when we began.

Our music video follows a narrative structure which is not usually used in music video's. The narrative structure we have used is usually used in films and features a split narrative where the film follows two characters separately and looking at how they are "related" to each other. We have taken this concept and slightly adapted it in which the video shows the two characters stories and the music explains how they are related.
